Friday 6 November · 7.00pm · Astoria
Etienne de Montille is one of the most respected names in Burgundy. On Friday 6 November, he joins us at Astoria for an evening exploring a different set of roots: Racines, his Californian project.
Burgundy thinking, Californian soil
"Racines" means roots in French, and the name says a great deal. The project brings a Burgundian sensibility to California, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cool Sta. Rita Hills made with the restraint, precision and sense of place that define the de Montille wines at home. For Burgundy lovers, it is a fascinating point of comparison. For lovers of New World wine, it is California at its most elegant.
The evening
Etienne will present the Racines range over dinner, talking through the vineyards, the thinking behind the project and how it connects to his work in Burgundy. It is a rare opportunity to hear the story first-hand, glass in hand, in an intimate setting.
