Tasting notes

Selected from the domaine’s finest tanks, “La Guiraude” 2023 captures the depth and precision of northern Rhône Syrah. The colour is deep ruby with purple highlights. The nose is intense, showing ripe black fruits (blackberry, cassis), violet, and spice, with hints of smoke and black pepper.

On the palate, the wine is dense and savory, with generous volume, firm yet silky tannins, and beautifully integrated freshness. Layers of black pepper, black olive, and graphite add complexity and tension. The finish is long, energetic, and persistent, leaving a refined, spicy, saline impression.

A Crozes-Hermitage of real character — structured yet elegant — with excellent aging potential.

More About The Winery

Founded in 1985, Domaine Alain Graillot has become one of the most respected names in the Northern Rhône, particularly in the appellation of Crozes-Hermitage. Alain Graillot, a passionate vigneron who left a career in the chemical industry to pursue his love of wine, quickly built a reputation for producing Syrah wines of purity, freshness, and finesse, admired by sommeliers and collectors worldwide.

The estate’s vineyards lie on the alluvial plains of the Rhône River, with gravel, sand, and limestone soils that impart elegance and minerality to the wines. The domaine is renowned for its use of whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and minimal intervention, resulting in wines that are vibrant, aromatic, and true to terroir.

Today, the domaine is run by Alain’s sons, Maxime and Antoine Graillot, who continue their father’s philosophy while refining the style. In addition to the benchmark Crozes-Hermitage Rouge, the domaine also produces highly regarded Crozes-Hermitage Blanc from Marsanne and Roussanne, and limited bottlings of Saint-Joseph and Cornas.
