Chateau Desmirail

The name Desmirail has been linked to Bordeaux winemaking since the late 17th century, when Jean Desmirail, a Bordeaux lawyer, received the property as part of his wife’s dowry and gave it his name. The estate was classified as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé (Third Growth) in the 1855 Médoc Classification, confirming its reputation for producing wines of finesse and elegance.

Over the centuries, Château Desmirail has passed through notable owners, including Robert de Mendelssohn, nephew of the famed composer, and later Château Palmer. In 1980, it was acquired by the legendary Lucien Lurton, a key figure in Bordeaux wine, and since 1992 has been managed by his son Denis Lurton, who has modernized the facilities while honoring the estate’s traditions.

Situated in the Margaux appellation, Desmirail produces wines that embody the hallmark grace, aromatics, and balance of Margaux terroir, while also offering a second wine for earlier enjoyment.
