Tasting notes

This vibrant Burgundy opens with aromas of fresh, juicy red fruit - think raspberry and cherry - enhanced by subtle floral hints and a fine mineral tension. On the palate, it offers a silky yet structured texture with crisp acidity, moderate grip from powdery tannins, and enlivening flavors of black and red fruit. Its energy and salinity linger through a long, refreshing finish, delivering purity and charm typical of top-tier Beaune terroirs.

Expert ratings

Jasper Morris: 92 points

"Rich bright purple. Just racked which makes the bouquet a little lumpy, but there is a fine energy to the 2022 Beaune Sizies. Given the crisp acidity, this is livelier than it usually is. One third whole bunch vinification. Good long finish. 4 Stars."

More About The Winery

The De Montille family has been a cornerstone of Burgundy for centuries, but the domaine’s reputation was firmly established in 1947, when Hubert de Montille inherited vineyards in Volnay. Hubert’s wines became legendary for their austere, structured style, built for long ageing.

Since the 1990s, Etienne de Montille has led the estate into a new era. Expanding into Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and beyond, he also integrated the former Château de Puligny-Montrachet holdings, creating one of the most impressive portfolios in the Côte d’Or.

Pioneering organic farming since 1995 and biodynamic practices since 2005, Domaine de Montille is now admired for wines that are both authentic and generous. The reds are vinified with whole clusters for aromatic depth and finesse, while the whites display precision, minerality, and purity.

Today, Domaine de Montille stands as one of Burgundy’s great names, producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that perfectly express their terroirs and continue to captivate collectors worldwide.
