Tasting notes

A wine of great distinction, Château Simone’s 2020 Palette Rouge presents a deep ruby-red hue and an exquisitely complex bouquet. Subtle yet persistent aromas unfold in layers—ranging from ripe red and black fruits to garrigue herbs, tobacco, and spice, all hallmarks of this historic terroir. On the palate, it is robust and structured, with noble, well-integrated tannins and remarkable depth. A wine built for the long haul, its balance and richness promise excellent aging potential, while already offering a glimpse of its refined, aristocratic character.

More About The Winery

Nestled in the commune of Meyreuil, just 4 km from Aix-en-Provence, Château Simone is one of the most historic and prestigious domaines of southern France. Once the bastide of the Grands Carmes d’Aix monks, the estate has been in the hands of the Rougier family since 1830, and is today celebrated as a benchmark producer of Provence wines.

The vineyard lies on the north-facing slopes of the Montaiguet massif, in a natural amphitheater that protects it from winds while benefiting from the cooling influence of the nearby Arc river. This unique microclimate, combined with limestone scree, clay, pebbles, and gravel soils, gives Château Simone wines their extraordinary depth, freshness, and longevity.

Viticulture remains entirely traditional and artisanal: grapes are hand-harvested, sorted twice, and fermented with native yeasts, ensuring the purest expression of terroir. Ageing takes place in cool, naturally humid underground cellars carved into the limestone, where barrels and casks nurture the wines in silence and darkness.

Renowned for producing reds, whites, and rosés of exceptional character, Château Simone is especially prized for its rare and age-worthy white wine, considered one of the finest in all of France.
