Tasting notes:Dark in color and opens with a somewhat airy, at least pretty open bouquet of red cherries and blackberries. On the palate, this is a beautifully fruity and finely tannic red with a stimulating sour cherry aroma and nice acidity and tannin complex. Although it's pretty open on the nose, this is a vital and tensioned Pinot from Sancerre.

How to Enjoy: superb pairing with quail and boletus pie, cod with wine sauce, calf's head with mayonnaise flavoured with chopped hard boiled egg and carpers, blanquette of veal

About the winery: For much of its recent history, the Mellot family has crafted its miraculous Sauvignons in a highly popular region where standards were continuously dropping and the viticulture and wine making was becoming more and more industrial. Alphonse Mellot was, and is, one of the beacons of quality in a region where today
