Grape
100% Pinot Noir
Tasting notes
Dark in color and opens with a somewhat airy, at least pretty open bouquet of red cherries and blackberries. On the palate, this is a beautifully fruity and finely tannic red with a stimulating sour cherry aroma and nice acidity and tannin complex. Although it's pretty open on the nose, this is a vital and tensioned Pinot from Sancerre.
More About The Winery
With a winemaking legacy dating back to 1513, Domaine Alphonse Mellot is one of the most historic and prestigious estates in Sancerre, today led by Alphonse Mellot Jr., the 19th generation of the family. The domaine’s flagship vineyard, La Moussière, is renowned worldwide for producing some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs, as well as elegant and refined Pinot Noir.
All vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, ensuring purity of fruit and the truest expression of terroir. Yields are kept low, grapes are harvested by hand, and meticulous care in the cellar allows each cuvée to showcase its unique personality.
The estate’s Sancerre Blancs are prized for their precision, minerality, and elegance, while the reds demonstrate remarkable finesse and complexity, often surprising those unfamiliar with Sancerre’s potential for Pinot Noir.
