Tasting notes

Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2023 is a structured, age-worthy Pinot Noir from one of the appellation's most respected growers. Its clay-heavy soils give the wine a concentrated core of dark red and black fruits, earthy minerality, and sweet spice, while balancing polished, generous fruit with the classic grip and fine acidity that define great Nuits-Saint-Georges.

More About The Winery

Domaine Henri Gouges is located in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy. The estate was founded in 1919 by Henri Gouges and continues to be owned and operated by the Gouges family. He was among the first producers to reject the Burgundian trading system then considered corrupt.

Instead, from the 1920s, Henri Gouges devoted himself to estate-bottling, a rare practice at the time. In the 1930s, when the Burgundian appellations were first designated, he successfully led a campaign against the designation of the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards as Grands Crus when he was both mayor of the village and appointed member of INAO.

Today, the vineyards of Domaine Henri Gouges cover 14.5 hectares, including plots spread over seven sites classified Premier Cru. Almost all wines are made from Pinot Noir, but a limited amount of white wines are also produced. A Pinot Blanc is produced under the generic Bourgogne Blanc appellation.
