Tasting notes
The nose reveals a palette of yellow fruits intertwined with citrus marmalade, whose aromatic sweetness is tempered by the mineral freshness of limestone. The wine opens with delicacy and restraint, allowing the purity of the bouquet to shine through.
On the palate, the Chassagne-Montrachet from Domaine de Montille unfolds along a linear, chiselled mineral frame. A lively acidity enhances the brightness of the fruit, where yellow fruits and citrus notes develop with precision. The finish, marked by stony tension, leaves a vibrant impression of energy and length.
More About The Winery
The De Montille family has been a cornerstone of Burgundy for centuries, but the domaine’s reputation was firmly established in 1947, when Hubert de Montille inherited vineyards in Volnay. Hubert’s wines became legendary for their austere, structured style, built for long ageing.
Since the 1990s, Etienne de Montille has led the estate into a new era. Expanding into Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and beyond, he also integrated the former Château de Puligny-Montrachet holdings, creating one of the most impressive portfolios in the Côte d’Or.
Pioneering organic farming since 1995 and biodynamic practices since 2005, Domaine de Montille is now admired for wines that are both authentic and generous. The reds are vinified with whole clusters for aromatic depth and finesse, while the whites display precision, minerality, and purity.
Today, Domaine de Montille stands as one of Burgundy’s great names, producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that perfectly express their terroirs and continue to captivate collectors worldwide.
